Behind the Limits
May 6, 2008 through January 4, 2009
Did you know the catch limit is seven lobsters per person and a California
halibut has to be 22 inches to be legal? Learn about fishing regulations,
such as bag size limits, gear and time restrictions for some local
fish and invertibrate species. This temporary exhibit discusses the
regulations, biology and life history of a few popular and commonly
fished marine species..

Saturday, March 15 from 9:30am - 11:30am
Investigate tidepool organisms up close in the classroom laboratory with microscopes
and touch specimans before a guided adventure to the Point Fermin State Marine
Park tidepools.

FRIENDS of CMA Lecture:
"National Parks in the Sea: Opportunities for Fisheries Research" Lecture
by Gary Davis Friday, April 11 from 7:30pm - 9:00pm, John M. Olguin Auditorium
Join FRIENDS
members and the public for a look at fisheries research conducted in and around
areas that could be designated as national parks in the ocean. Gary Davies has
spent his career diving and observing underwater habitats in Channel Islands
National Park. He will share his ideas of what national parks have to offer to
a healthy environment.
Fee: $7 per person ($5 FRIENDS members)

of the award's criteria.

ACS Lectures
The American Cetacean Society/Los Angeles Chapter offers free monthly lectures
at 7:30 pm the last Tuesday of each month at CMA in the John M. Olguin auditorium
during the whale watch season. October through March,
lectures are scheduled for March 25, 2008, April 29, 2008, May 27, 2008. Reservations
