Cabrillo Marine Aquarium engages all visitors in education, recreation and research to promote knowledge, appreciation and conservation of the marine life of Southern California. Celebrating more than 70 years of marine education, the Aquarium is a facility of the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks and is located on the shore at Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro between Point Fermin and the Port of Los Angeles. The tidepools of the Point Fermin Marine Life Refuge, a salt marsh, fishing pier, sandy beaches and fossil rich cliffs are all within accessible walking distance from the Aquarium. The Aquarium is free but has a suggested admission donation of $5 for adults and $1 for seniors/children and is open to the public from 12 noon - 5 pm Tuesday through Friday and on weekends from 10 am - 5 pm. Cabrillo Beach parking: Winter operation: free Monday-Thursdays, October through May. $1 per hour (max $7) for cars Friday-Sunday; $2 per hour ($15 max) for boats and oversized vehicles. Summer operation: June through September; 7 day operation. $1 per hour for cars (max $9); $2 per hour ($15 max) for boats and oversized vehicles. You may also park free in the lot at 22nd Street and Miner near the terminus of the Port of Los Angeles' Red Car Line and take a free shuttle to Cabrillo Beach. Groups must make reservations.
