Southern California Marine Habitats Hall
In our main exhibit hall, rocky shores, tidepool touch tank, kelp forests, sandy
beaches and mudflats, open ocean and Channel Islands exhibit areas introduce
the rich diversity and adaptations of our local sea life through a combination
of aquaria, interpretive displays and museum collections.
Aquatic Nursery
Visit the growing baby sea animals and the young scientists who investigate
their growth in the new Aquatic Nursery. Join in the enjoyment of scientific
discovery and learn more about the process and purposes of growing
aquatic organisms.
Exploration Center
Discover Cabrillo Coastal Park habitats and the organisms that live
there. Learn to use the tools and resources of naturalists through
engaging
investigations. Creative discoveries include completing a marine life
craft project and role playing a crab or sea star. Support from the
Kenneth and Eileen Norris Foundation and Friends of CMA help to provide
ongoing activities in this new learning lab.
Virginia Reid Moore Marine Research Library
The library supports the mission
of the CMA through its collection of books, periodicals and audiovisual
materials in marine biology and related sciences. Public hours are
Tuesday through Friday 12 noon - 5 pm and weekends from 10 am - 5 pm
Sea Rangers at Cabrillo Beach Coastal Park. All ages
can discover the habitats of the Cabrillo Beach Coastal Park with CMA-trained
Sea Rangers. For three hours
each Saturday and Sunday, Sea Rangers are available to answer questions
and share observations at the tidepools, salt marsh and/or fishing pier.
